Maintenance & Warranty Requirements
(Aligned with Kingswood Joinery UK Ltd Terms & Conditions)
Kingswood Joinery UK Ltd provides a 5-year warranty on all timber windows and doors supplied and/or installed.
Warranty coverage requires that all products are stored, cared for and maintained in accordance with the guidelines below.
Failure to follow these requirements may void the warranty.
1. Regular Maintenance (Every 12 Months Minimum)
Routine maintenance must include:
- Cleaning of frames, glass and drainage points.
- Lubrication of moving parts (hinges, locks, pulleys) using a suitable light oil.
- Light adjustments to hardware, if required.
- Checking paint or finish for chips, cracks or water ingress.
Maintenance must be documented with dated photos or receipts, and evidence may be requested when processing a warranty claim.
2. Paint & Coating Care
- External timber products must be redecorated as required, depending on exposure.
- High-exposure environments (coastal, south-facing or high-humidity areas) may need more frequent redecoration.
- Bare timber must never be exposed, any coating failure must be repaired promptly.
- Redecoration carried out by third-party contractors may require proof of work when making a claim.
3. Weather Seals & Sash Components
- Draught seals must remain clean, correctly seated and not painted over.
- Sash cords and pulleys must be checked periodically for smooth operation.
- Wear-and-tear components are not covered by the warranty and must be replaced by the customer.
- Kingswood Joinery UK Ltd can supply replacements at cost.
4. Ironmongery
- All ironmongery must be lubricated and protected from corrosion.
- Warranty applies only to ironmongery supplied by Kingswood Joinery UK Ltd.
- Wear, misuse or issues with third-party ironmongery are not covered.
5. Glazing & Misted Units
If misting occurs within the warranty period:
- A site inspection will be carried out.
- If the cause is a product or manufacturing defect, a replacement will be arranged.
- If not, survey and visit fees will apply (including any wasted day rate and travel/access costs).
- Supply-only customers must return the sash to our factory unless a paid site visit is arranged.
6. Storage & Handling Before Installation
To protect timber prior to installation:
- Store indoors in a dry, fully ventilated area.
- Keep supported to prevent bending or twisting.
- Protect from impact, wet trades and condensation.
Damage caused by incorrect storage will void the warranty.
7. Moisture & Building Works
Plastering, screeding and other wet trades create high humidity.
The customer must:
- Ensure adequate ventilation and dehumidification.
- Protect products from moisture and damp during drying.
Swelling or coating failure caused by humidity is not a warranty issue.
8. Unauthorised Adjustments
The warranty will be void if:
- Products are modified, drilled, cut or altered.
- Blinds, security devices or fixtures are incorrectly fitted to frames or sashes.
- Repairs are attempted by others without written approval.

- Costs of repair or replacement (paid upfront)
